The T6’s buffer is the limiting factor here. When shooting JPEG, you can fire approximately 1,100 shots in a continuous burst (effectively unlimited). When shooting RAW, the buffer fills after about 6 frames, and the camera slows down significantly while it writes data to the card. If you shoot RAW and need bursts, consider using a fast SD card to speed up the write time.
Tips for Continuous Shooting
Use AI Servo AF mode alongside continuous shooting when tracking moving subjects. AI Servo continuously adjusts focus between frames, keeping your subject sharp as it moves toward or away from you. Pairing continuous drive with One-Shot AF means focus locks on the first frame and stays there, fine for subjects at a fixed distance, but useless for anything coming toward you.
Self-Timer: 10-Second Delay
Press the shutter button and the camera waits ten seconds before firing. The self-timer lamp on the front of the camera blinks to count down, then the shutter fires automatically.
The classic use case is group photos where you want to be in the picture. Set the camera on a tripod or stable surface, compose the shot, press the shutter, and take your position. Ten seconds gives you enough time to walk into frame and settle.
But the 10-second timer has another practical use: vibration-free shooting. Even on a tripod, pressing the shutter button creates a tiny vibration that can blur photos at slow shutter speeds. Self-Timer: 2-Second Delay
The 2-second timer works identically to the 10-second version, just with a shorter delay. This mode is specifically designed for tripod shooting where you want to eliminate shutter-button vibration but don’t need time to walk into the frame.
Landscape photographers, night shooters, and macro photographers should consider making the 2-second timer their default when working on a tripod. It costs almost nothing in time and consistently produces sharper images at slow shutter speeds.
Self-Timer: Continuous Mode
This mode combines the self-timer with burst shooting. After the countdown (either 2 or 10 seconds), the camera fires a series of consecutive shots. You can set how many frames it captures, typically between 2 and 10 shots.
To configure this, select the self-timer continuous option in the drive mode menu, then press the Info button to set the number of shots. This is handy for group photos where you want multiple takes to increase the chances of getting one frame where everyone has their eyes open.
