Recommended steps regarding how to install Night Owl wired security cameras

Step 1. Connect the Night Owl DVR to a TV or Monitor

Before you proceed with the installation of Night Owl wired security cameras, check your TV or monitor for the availability of  VGA or HDMI connecting inputs.

Once done, connect the TV or Monitor with either a VGA or HDMI cable to the identical connector on the DVR.

Afterward, gently connect the other end of the cable to the VGA or HDMI input on the TV or Monitor. Please note that VGA Cable is not included in the package, so you have to purchase it separately.

Step 2: Connect the USB Mouse

Connect the provided USB mouse with the DVR while plugging into the USB port either on the back or front side of the DVR. By doing this, you can easily switch between the on-screen menus during usage.

The default output mode in DVR is HDMI/VGA. If you have connected a BNC monitor, you may need to use the remote control for the system’s effective functioning. Tap the SEL key twice and then press the 0 key to change the output to BNC in this case.

Step 3. Establishing a connection between the security camera and the DVR

You have to look for the 60-inch video extension cable in the package first. Afterward, watch out for the  DC power that sports a color identical to the cable.

Gently plug in the yellow-colored BNC connector cable ( for video output from the Camera) and red male connector cable ( for power) to each security camera.

Once done, connect the other ends of the BNC cable (tagged as “To DVR Only”) to the provided video input ports available on the backside of the DVR.

Step 4. Power on the DVR, security cameras, and Monitor

Once you are through with the process mentioned above, carefully connect the other ends of the 60-inch video extension cable through the four-way power splitter provided in the kit.

Plugin the single end of the same splitter to the power supply of the camera.

Afterward, generate a connection with a power socket by plugging in the camera power supply.

As far as the DVR is concerned, connect the DVR power connector to the port available on the back panel of the DVR.

Once through, connect the DVR Power supply to a wall socket or a surge protector. While doing that, ensure that the TV or Monitor is powered on.

You must now see the Night Owl logo on the TV screen, followed by a live feed or start-up wizard. The security camera is ready for use.
