The essential controls of D3300 which you should know

The most important buttons of D3300 are the:

  1. Mode dial

The mode dial, which is located on the top of the camera consists of all the essential features of the camera, which are:

  • Auto: Well, sadly, even after buying a camera, people use this mode the most as the camera adjusts its setting automatically according to the subject.
  • P (Program): For the beginners, this is the best mode where the camera will adjust the aperture and shutter automatically, but you can manage the other setting which will eventually help you to learn about the camera gradually.
  • S (Shutter Speed): When you set the mode on S, the camera will adjust everything else automatically except the shutter speed which you will need to adjust according to your subject.
  • A (Aperture Priority): Just like S mode, when you set the mode on A, the camera will adjust the shutter speed whereas you will need to adjust the aperture of the lens.
  • M (Manual): When you are comfortable with the other setting and known how to set the shutter and aperture for getting the right exposure, you can shift to this mode. In manual mode, the camera will warn you if there is little exposure, but it won’t stop you from clicking a picture.

Nikon D3300 provides its users with a wide range of special effects such as miniature, super Vivid, and the Easy Panorama effect.

Noise reduction and ISO light sensitivity

The ISO is used according to the amount of light your subject is getting. During daylight short, you can set the ISO to the minimum, which is the ISO100. But, when there is dim/dark light situation, you can raise the ISO. But raising ISO will result in grainy pictures which are known as noise.

ISO 1600 is one of the most widely used ISO settings as it is adaptable for every situation. But if you are shooting when there is little light, then you can raise the ISO to 3200 but make sure that you have turned on the noise reduction for every situation as it will help you to capture grain-pictures.

Capturing action photos

The shutter speed decides how to capture the subject. It must be adjusted according to the subject. The faster the subject moves, the higher the shutter speed needs to be adjusted to.

Capturing some splendid portraits

When clicking portraits, you need to adjust the aperture of the camera. Set the lens on 35mm and an aperture of the f5.6 or lower as it will help to blur out the background and keep the subject in focus.

For landscape shots

Since landscape shots require more depth, you need to set the aperture at f9 or higher to capture the depth of the field.
