1. Canon EOS R

Best Canon Mirrorless Cameras - Canon EOS R

Best Canon Mirrorless Cameras – Canon EOS R

EOS R’s first full-frame mirrorless Canon camera, it’s a little funky and has some quirks but also has some cool new features if you are used to shooting canon cameras for a while now.

It has a 30.3-megapixel sensor that gives out-of-box image quality.

The reason why Canon EOS R camera is our top choice is its incredible 100% top to bottom and 88% from side to side focus area.

Flip out screen is the best feature not only for selfies or vlogging but if you are trying to get a different camera angle or aim it up high.

The ability to articulate the screen is worthwhile for every photographer.

Features:

  • 3MP full-frame CMOS sensor
  • DIGIC 8 image processor for high sensitivity performance
  • Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth to connect with third-party devices.
  • 4K UHD Video recording at 29.97p, 25p, 24p, 23.98p
  • Optical viewfinder with EVF, 3.69m dots, 100% coverage
  • Max Burst shooting at 8fps
  • ISO range 100 to 40,000

2. Canon M6 Mark II

Best Canon Mirrorless Cameras – Canon M6 Mark II

All of Canon’s M series cameras are compact and the M6 Mark II is no exception. It weighs just 408 grams along with a battery & memory card.

There is a big caveat to that specs though unlike all its rival M6 Mark II doesn’t have a built-in electronic viewfinder to get that feature you need to buy $200 EVF DC which adds the bulk and the price of the camera.

As a reminder, M5 did have the EVF while the original M6 didn’t. Canon Might have figured that vloggers don’t need it and photographers would be willing to pay an extra $200 to get it either way.

Let’s talk about the design of the camera, there are three dials on top to change the shooting mode, focus, and aperture.

The rear display is not fully articulating but it does flip up 180 degrees for vloggers and selfie lovers.

It doesn’t have built-in EVF but it does have a popup shooting flash that can be useful when you are shooting portraits.

Features:

  • 5Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor
  • Max Burst shooting at 14fps or 30 fps for short bursts
  • 4K UHD video shooting at 30p and 25p without any
  • Optional EVF
  • DIGIC 8 image processor for high-quality images
  • ISO 100-25,600 for low light
  • Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB 2.0 port with Type-C connector

3. Canon EOS RP

Best Canon Mirrorless Cameras – Canon EOS RP

Canon EOS RP is by far the lightest full-frame mirrorless camera out there. It weighs 170g less than EOS R which is quite good. It also feels tiny and compact because of its design and grip.

Considering its size, I found EOS RP ergonomics to be excellent, there are 2 dials front and rear that allow you to adjust shutter and aperture settings.

Canon EOS RP also has some limitations, however. It only got a single UHS to the card slot and a much smaller battery, you only got 250 shots in a single charge.

So, you will need to carry extra batteries for a long time shooting.

Canon has done a great job with ports in a nice budget camera, you get the headphone and microphone jacks. You get a mini HDMI port and a USB type-c port that can be used for data transfer as well as direct charging.

Features:

  • 2 Dual Pixel CMOS sensor
  • Burst shooting 5fps with continuous focus/tracking
  • 4K UHD video shooting at 30p and 25p without any
  • OLED EVF of 2.4m dots
  • DIGIC 8 image processor
  • ISO range 100-40,000 for low light
