The ad-tech industry is the fastest growing industry in the world. Most businesses now rely on ad platforms through digital marketing. Apple has showcased new privacy measures for the same industry which third-parties are offering through their platforms.
The company has showcased these new features during the WWDC which target two platforms, in-app and email marketing. The company has officially announced new privacy measures during their ongoing Worldwide Developers Conference.
Interestingly, they have also announced the availability of these new privacy measures. As per their official announcement, the newly announced privacy measures will come along with the upcoming software update i.e. iOS 15. We have to wait for the availability of the new software update i.e. iOS 15 which will be announced soon. The official release date of iOS 15 is still unknown.
What’s New?
Unlike Android, Apple is limiting its ad-sharing platform through AppStore. The company is limiting in-app advertising for iOS users. Third-party apps won’t be able to put unnecessary advertisements on their apps or games post this update.
Besides this, the company is also limiting email marketing. For that, Apple will announce a new Mail Privacy Protection. The new Mail Privacy Protection feature will be available exclusively for Apple’s Mail app.
With this new Mail Privacy Protection feature, senders will not be able to fetch the IP address of the receiver even if he opens up the email. Most phishing attacks are done through email marketing with the help of the hyperlink and ad banners attached in the email.
The same feature will prevent the senders from knowing or determining the location of the users. This new feature will act as a dedicated VPN for Apple’s Mail app where senders won’t be able to fetch the IP Address or Location of the receiver.
Besides this, there will be a new app rollout for iPhone users where they will be notified of the apps and the given permissions by the users. If the user wants to stop sharing his information, he can easily get to know about the apps and can disable the permissions.
For their Web Browser i.e. Apple Safari, the company is bringing a new IP Hiding feature to hide the user’s IP address while surfing the web through this browser. Apple is developing this new feature for their web browser through the Intelligent Tracking Prevention Privacy Protocol.
Moreover, whenever a user asks to fill in the form, the browser will let him fill in the form by creating a random email address. This will protect the web activities of the users.
A couple of months ago, Apple announced its new App Tracking Transparency framework. This framework directly affects the add-mobile industry with over $105 billion in the U.S. only.
This new framework forces users to track the permissions that they have enabled for particular apps. They will implement this new framework along with the newly announced privacy measures for the ad-tech industry.
The new updates and privacy features from Apple are designed to make their users’ web activities secure and well-protected with better control to manage them.
The Bottom Line:
The company is planning to establish its own ad-based industry. They aim to expand this industry by offering better services and a user base to advertisers in the coming months.
Apple is already blocking third parties from accessing the user’s information. However, after the implementation of these new privacy measures, they will limit the user’s tracking from the in-app section as well as email. Time will tell us more about the new privacy measures announced at WWDC by Apple.
