How to Create Custom Folders on Canon Rebel T6 1300D

Capturing photos with your Canon EOS Rebel T6 with a flip screen automatically generates a folder on your memory card to store these images. Initially, the camera creates a default folder named 100Canon, with subsequent folders named 102Canon, 103Canon, etc. Each folder can hold up to 9,999 photos before a new one is automatically generated.

Creating custom folders can help organize your photos, making it easier to differentiate between personal and work images or to categorize photos by event or location.

Step 1:

Using the cross-navigation keys, navigate to Setup Menu 1 on your Canon EOS Rebel T6.

Step 2:

Select the option to create a new folder using the cross-navigation keys and pressing Set. The Canon EOS Rebel T6 will prompt you for confirmation before creating the folder.

Step 3:

Confirm by highlighting ‘OK’ with the right/left navigation keys and pressing Set. Select the cancel option if you decide against creating a new folder.

Step 4:

The new folder will be automatically named and set as the active storage location. All new photos taken will be saved in this folder.

Step 5:

After creating the folder, pressing Set returns you to Setup Menu 1. Repeat these steps to create additional folders as needed.

Custom folders are invaluable for organizing images, especially when attending events or traveling. This system allows easy separation of image sets for streamlined transfer and renaming on your computer or other devices.

Tip: Selecting a folder with images will display thumbnails on the right side of the screen. The top thumbnail shows the first image in the folder with the last four digits of its filename, while the bottom thumbnail displays the last image stored in the folder with its last four digits.
